Coffee with Ezio

IMG_5622.JPG
Today we visited the RISD school in Rome, housed in the palazetto Cenci which dates to the Renaissance. The director, Ezio Genovesi, gave us a tour if the studios, classrooms, library and living quarters then took us out for a coffee. (I made this sketch from the outdoor tables at the coffee shop.) An art historian, he told me that people began using sketchbooks in the early 1700s-for traveling.
